With hundreds of big and small IT companies opening shops in India, their requirement for resources is also increasing. Here comes the IT recruiter. A person who recruits the right kind of talent for the company is known as a recruiter. When a dedicated person is given the responsibilities of handling certain affairs of the company, he will be in a better position to churn out best results. The main job of an IT recruiter is to attract the most qualified employees and match them to the jobs for which they are best suited. This ensures significant success for any organization. The educational backgrounds of HR or a recruiter differ significantly because of the diversity of duties and responsibility. Most employers seek college graduates who have graduated in human resources, human resources administration, or industrial and labor relations. There are others who look for college graduates having a technical or business background. Some prefer knowledge in arts education. You would need basic computer knowledge, a pleasing voice, great communication skills and persuasion ability.

As an IT recruiter you might be employed in an IT company or an HR consultancy firm. As a beginner your role would be to call all the people in the given list of prospects and ask them if they are interested in that particular job. This can be a tiring process and it requires a lot of persuasion skills. You would need to ask the right kind of questions to the candidates and be prepared to answer their questions too. It is the job of the recruiter to schedule the candidate’s interview appointment with the respective technical person in the company. As you grow to the next level, it will be your duty to search for candidates through all means possible – like searching on major job boards, conducting job events, cold calling, etc. You would also need to screen the resumes. Your performance would be judged based on how many relevant candidates you can persuade for a preliminary interview.

What is the salary structure for a recruiter Depending upon the size of the company, and the qualification you possess with good amount of work experience, you can expect a salary, which ranges between Rs.8,000 to Rs. 15,000 per month. Bigger organizations will definitely pay a better salary. Beginners with no prior experience and qualifications can get about Rs.5,000 per month.
After six months to one year of experience in this field you can expect a good hike in your salary structure. And again this depends upon the major areas you have worked on and of course it also depends upon the size of the company, employee strength and more importantly on the profitability of the company.
